This is generally a good definition of PHP. However, it does contain a lot of terms you may not be used to. Another way to think of PHP is a powerful, behind the scenes scripting language that your visitors won't see!

When someone visits your PHP webpage, your web server processes the PHP code. It then sees which parts it needs to show to visitors(content and pictures) and hides the other stuff(file operations, math calculations, etc.) then translates your PHP into HTML. After the translation into HTML, it sends the webpage to your visitor's web browser.

Swede indicted for hacking NASA computers

WASHINGTON -- A 21-year-old Swede was indicted on Tuesday on charges of hacking into the computer systems of NASA and US networking giant Cisco, the US Justice Department said.

Philip Gabriel Pettersson, also known as "Stakkato," was indicted on charges of intrusion and misappropriating trade secrets, the Justice Department said in a statement.

Pettersson was accused in the five-count indictment of breaking into the computer system and network of San Jose, California-based Cisco in May 2004 and stealing operating system code.

He allegedly broke into computers belonging to the US space agency NASA's Ames Research Center and the NASA Advanced Supercomputing Division in Moffett Field, California, in May and October of the same year.

The Justice Department did not provide Pettersson's current whereabouts but said it will "continue to work cooperatively with the Swedish authorities on the case."

It said the maximum penalty for each charge of intrusion and theft of trade secrets is 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.

Setting Steps: Input Code

1.) Find out the 3-digit code for the TV that you desire to control from the "Code list" In case there are several groups of codes available, please use the first group at first; in case that your TV brand has no matching code in the code list, please try the "Search For the Correct Code" mode described later.

2.) Press and hold the "Setting" button at first, then press the "Power" button. Release both buttons after the indicator light illuminates, indicating the status of code input; in case the indicator light is in other status, it indicates that it's yet to enter the code input status, and this step shall be repeated till the light illuminates.

3.) Input sequentially the 3-digit code that you have obtained. The indicator light flashes once when one digit is input. After the input of the code, the indicator light extinguishes; in case indicator light flashes twice successively, it indicates that your input is wrong and you need to input again.

Note: In case the indicator light keeps illuminating after two flashes, you only need to input the correct 3-digit code and do not repeat Step 2, otherwise Step shall be repeated for resetting.

4.) When the Indicator light extinguishes, the setting ends, then you can remotely control your TV with the remote controller.

We have just entered the month of April, and it only means one thing, summer is fast approaching. In the Philippines, summer, next to the Christmas season, is the most anticipated period of the year. This is because of the fact that the Philippines is an archipelago, and the beautiful beaches shows its real beauty during this time. Traveling locally is an ideal thing to do.

Additionally, summer is also a long break from school. All school levels are taking their school vacation this season, usually starting on the last week of March, ergo, the time for students to roam around and enjoy their time out of books and exams is this.

Since tourism is an in-demand industry around this time, most vacation spots and tourist attractions are in their most busiest hour. In fact, if you do not know a lot about the Philippines and will just go here and impromptu plan your activities, I'm sure you will have a hard time. So we listed below some tips on your for your Philippine vacation.

Book your hotel as early as possible. It is highly encouraged to at least book your accommodation a month before your actual arrival.
High-end hotels are mostly fully booked or increased their stay packages. Taking alternatives such as pension houses, 1-day inns and room rentals is worth your consideration.
Plan your activities before going on a vacation. It pays to organize the list of things you want to do. It saves time and money and makes your visit worthy.
Hire registered tour guides if you want to. But traveling by yourself or with some friends or family is always fine provided that you take necessary precautions.
Be guided that there are a lot of opportunists everywhere especially during this time. If you need to ask for help, make sure they will not take advantage of you. If possible, ask a person in uniform such as security guards, policemen et al.
Make a wise budget. It pays researching for the current prices and fees for your travel.
Keep your things safe. Wallets, phones and other valuable items must not be displayed flamboyantly. Bring only enough when you go out of your room. And oh, be sure to keep it locked.

SINGAPORE, Feb 5 - While most children his age sketch on paper with crayons, nine-year old Lim Ding Wen from Singapore, has a very different canvas -- his iPhone.

Lim, who is in fourth grade, writes applications for Apple's popular iPhone. His latest, a painting program called Doodle Kids, has been downloaded over 4,000 times from Apple's iTunes store in two weeks, the New Paper reported on Thursday.

The program lets iPhone users draw with their fingers by touching the iPhone's touchscreen and then clear the screen by shaking the phone.

"I wrote the program for my younger sisters, who like to draw," Lim said. His sisters are aged 3 and 5.

Lim, who is fluent in six programming languages, started using the computer at the age of 2. He has since completed about 20 programming projects. His father, Lim Thye Chean, a chief technology officer at a local technology firm, also writes iPhone applications.

"Every evening we check the statistics emailed to us (by iTunes) to see who has more downloads," the older Lim said.

The boy, who enjoys reading books on programming, is in the process of writing another iPhone application -- a science fiction game called "Invader Wars".

The Chinese Lunar New Year is coming up. Time to see reds, fireworks, dancing dragons, and of course everyone’s favorite delicacy, tikoy (sticky rice cake) or the Chinese New Year Pudding. This and other Chinese food delights make the Filipino-Chinese celebration of the joyous event unique from its Asian counterparts.

The sweet tikoy is made from grounded rice flour, wheat starch, lard, water, and sugar. The sugar type determines the color of the pudding. That’s why when you go the stores, you have a choice of brown or white tikoy.

Making one of these puddings is arduous and involves steaming for two hours. Good thing we now have the convenience of buying them in the local grocery especially during the Chinese New Year.

But the tikoy we buy is not ready to eat. They are sliced into small pieces, dipped in egg and fried. Here’s a simple tikoy preparation:

Chill the tikoy in the fridge for a few hours to make it firmer for easier to slicing.
Sliced the tikoy to about 1/2 - 1/4 inch thick.
Dip the sliced tikoy pieces in a beaten egg for coating.
Fry on low to medium heat in a pan with a little oil for a few minutes.

The sticky tikoy is thought to seal the kitchen gods’ mouths, so they can’t report the family’s misdeeds to higher deities. And that’s why it is an ever present delicacy in the Filipino Chinese household.

In 2009, the Chinese Lunar Year Festival would start from 26 th of January. As every one is aware of its significance, the working people in china can take weeks of holidays so that they can join the company of their near and dear ones and a feast with their family members on the Chinise new years eve or Lunar New Year's Eve. Although with the changing times and increasing mobility of the people the celebration of Chinese New Year Festival has undergone some changes, everybody still very fervently follow all the customs that their elders have taught them.

Chinese have a unique way of representing the New Year through animals. They have 12 different animals to represent each year of the 12 year -cycle and the order remains the same throughout with the year of the rat beginning the cycle and the year of the boar/ pig ending the same. As the Chinese year 2008 was signified as the year of the rat, the following year, 2009, is going to be the year of the ox. Chinese New Year of OX, 2009 will fall on January 26th and will mark the 15 day long festivities beginning on the said date and going on till the 9th February.

PHOENIX, Nov. 8, 2007 – Phoenix has been selected as the site of NBA All-Star 2009, NBA Commissioner David Stern announced today. The 58th All-Star Game will be played at the US Airways Center, home of the NBA’s Suns and 2007 WNBA Champion Mercury, on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009. A worldwide television audience spanning over 200 countries will view the events. Fans in the United States will watch the action on TNT. Phoenix also hosted All-Star in 1975 and 1995.

"Phoenix is one of the great sports and entertainment destinations, so it is only natural that it will once again become the basketball capital of the world," said Stern. "We appreciate the leadership of Jerry Colangelo, Robert Sarver and the Suns organization for inviting us to make their arena our home for what promises to be an exciting and entertaining All-Star."

The All-Star competitions will tip off on Friday, Feb. 13, as the league’s top rookies and second-year players square off in the Rookie Challenge. The excitement will continue the next day with NBA All-Star Saturday Night, which includes Shooting Stars, a competition featuring NBA and WNBA players and NBA legends, Skills Challenge, a contest of top guards working against the clock to complete a series of passes, free throws, lay-ups and agility drills, and the Three-Point Shootout, where six of the best long-range shooters compete against each other and the clock in a test of accuracy. The evening’s grand finale, the Slam Dunk Contest, will showcase some of the NBA’s best athletes as they take to the air mystifying fans with their gravity-defying creativity.

“We are proud that Phoenix, and downtown in particular, will be showcased around the world through the media’s coverage of NBA All-Star 2009,” said Suns Managing Partner Robert Sarver. “This is a great example of how our city’s leadership, public and private, can work together to bring events with major economic impact to Phoenix.”

Not all of the action will take place on the court as the NBA will celebrate its tradition and commitment to social responsibility with a schedule of NBA Cares events taking place throughout All-Star. NBA Cares will partner with schools, government and local non-profit organizations in Phoenix and surrounding areas to highlight the league’s grassroots and community initiatives that reach millions of young people and their parents while providing critical resources to community-based programs.

One of All-Star’s most popular attractions is Jam Session, the world's largest interactive basketball theme park, which will be held at the Phoenix Convention Center. In its 16th season, Jam Session will feature over 450,000 square-feet of basketball entertainment for fans of all ages - the equivalent of 48 official-size NBA basketball courts or 18 million regulation-size basketballs.

At Jam Session, fans can test their skills on over 30 unique attractions, compare their hand and shoe sizes with those of their favorite NBA players, compete against friends at on-court skills challenges, watch youngsters slam dunk and hit three-pointers at the Kids Zone, and meet some of their favorite players and legends, celebrities and musical performers. Jam Session also offers an extensive trading card and collectibles area, the NBA Store, where fans can purchase exclusive merchandise, and Center Court, the home for All-Star entertainment, where fans can watch practices, dance teams and mascots, and celebrities, NBA, WNBA players in a variety of shooting contests.

The 2009 event marks the third time Phoenix has hosted All-Star. On Jan. 15, 1975, the New York Knicks’ and future Hall of Fame guard Walt “Clyde” Frazier scorched the West with 30 points - including 10-of-17 shooting from the field - to capture MVP honors. Played at Veterans Memorial Coliseum, the Game is remembered for the performances of many eventual Hall of Famers including Rick Barry of the Golden State Warriors, John Havlicek of the Boston Celtics, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar of the Milwaukee Bucks. Charlie Scott of the Phoenix Suns also participated in the game. In the end, the East, coached by K.C. Jones of the Washington Bullets, prevailed 108-102, against the West, led by coach Al Attles of the Warriors.

The All-Star Game returned to the desert 20 years later on Feb. 12, 1995, when Suns stars Charles Barkley and Dan Majerle were among those selected to play and Sacramento Kings guard Mitch Richmond scored 23 points in 22 minutes to earn MVP honors. Played at the then-America West Arena, Suns legend Paul Westphal coached the West to a 139-112 blowout of the East, coached by Brian Hill of the Orlando Magic. The Game displayed the talents of many players still competing in the NBA including Dikembe Mutombo, Shaquille O’Neal, Gary Payton, Penny Hardaway, Grant Hill, and Alonzo Mourning.

2009 All-Stars:

As promised, the NBA revealed the result of the 2009 NBA All-Star balloting, and for the most part, the voters got it right. The last returns that we were shown back on Jan. 8 had Tracy McGrady leading Chris Paul for a starting guard spot by more than 150,000 votes, which was (obviously) completely ridiculous. CP3 made a comeback though, and ended up in the starting lineup by over 450,000 votes.
